Join us for:
- Games
- Crafts
- BBQ hot dogs, burgers (meat and non-meat options)
- Socializing with other LGBTQ families, allied families, and prospective LGBTQ parents
Christie Pits Park
- Picnic Shelter Area
(SE Corner of the park, closest to Bloor St. W & Christie) - The closest TTC station is Christie Station.
- The closest accessible TTC station is Bathurst Station.
We are delighted to serve hot dogs and burgers, and do our best to provide gluten and dairy free and vegetarian options for our guests. Your RSVP helps us plan for your family’s needs.
Please bring your own side dishes and any additional foods that your family will enjoy, and feel free to share with others. Due to huge attendance at this event, we will not have a potluck table.
Please do not bring products containing nuts out of concern for the safety of those with life-threatening or other serious allergies.
We will be serving food on paper plates – please feel invited to bring your own reusable cups, plates and cutlery. We try to limit our environmental impact by using compostable plates, cups, and cutlery as much as possible, but we have not figured out how to completely eliminate disposables for a gathering of this size.
Weather
We are expecting gorgeous weather this year – but this event will proceed in case of rain or shine!
In case of really extreme weather, any cancellation information will be e-mailed out by 8:00 AM the day of the picnic. We will also post updates here, on Facebook and Twitter.
Things to Consider Bringing
You only need to bring yourself, but you might want to bring:
- Picnic blankets or lawn chairs
- Side dishes and snacks
- Reusable cups, plates and cutlery
- Oudoor games your kids enjoy
- Support the Picnic
Support from people like you helps make this free event possible. If you would like to make a donation to support this event or the work of the LGBTQ Parenting Network, please donate online.
If you would like to volunteer to run a game or activity, help with clean up or set up, or have other skills you would like to contribute, please check the box on your RSVP.
Please plan your travel carefully
Due to the Toronto GoodLife Marathon tomorrow, as last year, there will be traffic and transit disruptions, mostly in the far south of the city (south of King Street) and west of Yonge Street, in the morning.
If you are coming in from west of the city, the Gardiner and Hwy 401 are both affected and some ramps will be closed.
TTC advisories can be found online:

As a reminder, TTC is your best bet, and the picnic is immediately adjacent to Christie Station. Christie Station has an escalator, but not elevator. Bathurst Station has an elevator.
